... And that's a wrap on Kyoko!

I'd be lying if I said I were glad this was over. It seems like only yesterday that we started shooting in the cemetery and defiling the delicious corpses contained within. Um, yeah.

But in all seriousness, it's been an absolutely spectacular shoot. For the last time, the Kyoko crew assembled themselves in the offices of Multigraphics Ltd. today to shoot the final few scenes of the film: Kyoko facing off against Akira. The pictures won't spoil the ending for you, but let's just say that the shoot day ended with most of us pitching in to clean the blood off the office ceiling. You just can't end a day on Kyoko without ripping someone's face off.

And really now, isn't that what filmmaking is all about?

Again, the updated photos are all fresh and ready for you on the Kyoko Publicity Stills page, the photo archives can be seen at our Thumbnail Gallery (including three previously unseen pictures from Ajatan), and for the love of God, go check out the Kyoko Teaser Trailer if you haven't already done so. Of course, if you have, watch it again. And again. And again.

Most of the fun is over now but that doesn't necessarily mean the site's dead from now on. For instance, I could decide to post some wrap party pictures, weekly updates on postproduction and provide up-to-date news on screenings and festival releases. The sky's the limit.

It's been fun, guys. My e-mail's biteme2514@hotmail.com so keep in touch. I'll be seeing each of you again real soon.

Kyoko Teaser Trailer Released!

This just in, guys. I told you I'd bring everything to you within minutes of it happening.

This comes to us courtesy of YouTube and our picture editor, Orion McCaw.

Spread the love and hug the dude next time you see him. I'm serious.

Short Day at the Studio - Day 5 of 6

Slowly winding down from the madness of killing off six characters in the past four days, today's shoot was a relative piece of cake. All we needed to do was grab a few shots of Akira's henchmen getting all pissed off in that lip-pouting way that henchmen do, and we were golden. Akira's men were looking good though. I'd hate to run into one of these angry fuckers in a dark alley somewhere.

Catch all the badass on our newly updated Kyoko Publicity Stills page and remember, all the photos from previous days can be easily accessed through our Thumbnail Gallery.

And don't forget to tell your friends. The more buzz you start generating now, the more people will come see this when it screens at VSFF or Young Cuts. Do your part. Plug Kyoko every chance you get and you just may see this on IMDb!

By the way, on the off-chance that some of you guys might actually want prints of our production stills, just let me know and I'll send you the original high-resolution files. Due to bandwidth issues, I've had to lower the quality on virtually every photo in the gallery. So if you need prints, come to me first and don't just drag them off the site. You may be disappointed if you do.

Only one more day on set. See you all there in the afternoon!

Mayhem at the Marriott - Day 4 of 6

Finally answering the age-old question of just how much badass one can cram into a ten-minute film, the Kyoko crew took over two hotel rooms at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown today to shoot Kyoko's bedroom scenes. It's not as sexy as it sounds but as promised, we do deliver the badass in copious quantities.

As always, catch all the up-to-the-minute action on our Kyoko Publicity Stills page, from our crazy ceiling fan rig to our trouble-causing camera department.

Oh, and one more thing. If there's a picture you want to see that I haven't posted, just flag me down on set and I'll get your e-mail address off you so I can send it your way. Remember, I'm here to make you all look good.

(And looking good could help you get laid. Boo-yah!)

Geysers of Blood! - Day 3 of 6

It's almost ridiculous how much blood and gore is going to end up in the finished film. Our shoot earlier today at Cap College involved gallons of blood, special make-up effects, squib hits and a four-person stunt team!

Those with sensitive stomachs should refrain from seeing the new Kyoko Publicity Stills. They should also keep their distance from these Additional Stills taken by Shannon Mackay.

As a further note, photos from previous days may be found through our Thumbnail Gallery. Also, I'm still looking for Bios so get them to me ASAP.

See you all on set. We're halfway there, guys!

Ajatan Stills - Day 2 of 6

There's nothing quite like walking into the perfect location for a shoot. Ajatan Studios was just the place for Kyoko to blow a few heads off. Oh wait, was that giving away too much?

In that case, you probably want to stay as far away as possible from the new Kyoko Publicity Stills. I mean, what's so interesting about sniper rifles, fast cars and bloody executions anyway?

Kyoko Stills Released!

Finally, Kyoko's started shooting. For the next week, all our collective energies will be devoted to making this film look as slick and stylish as humanly possible. Today, we kicked things off at 0730 at Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver. We wrapped by 1600.

Stills have just been released and can be seen at Kyoko Publicity Stills, generously hosted by Flickr. Keep checking back there for updates. New pictures will be going up every night of the shoot.

Hope you're all as excited to see the finished product as I am.

The meetings begin!

Earlier today, for the very first time, the entire Kyoko crew assembled themselves and got together for a concept meeting. With Cole Bayford (the 1st AD) and working director Charles Wilkinson presiding over the session, Brett and co-producers Ian and Dani walked us all through the script, giving us a general overview of what we should expect during production.

For those of you who don't know, Kyoko is an action-drama in the same vein as Luc Besson's La Femme Nikita. Charting the character arc of a deadly Japanese female assassin, it promises high-end production values and many a bloody gangland execution. I have been personally asked by the creative team to not give anything away at this point as we are still in the larval stages of figuring this all out but rest assured, any concept meeting in which consideration is given to hiring 80+ extras to fill out the opening scene can only mean the Kyoko team is aiming for the top.

As always, I promise to bring you the very latest in news updates and if you feel the need to contact me directly, I can be reached at kyokomoviepublicity@hotmail.com so fire me some mail.

A further note to the creative heads of the Kyoko crew: I am now accepting bios at the e-mail address above for key creatives, preferably in a Word doc, roughly 200-250 words long. Feel free to submit your own bio picture if you want to, but if you would rather have your picture taken either by me or by my second photographer Shannon Mackay, just let us know on set. Make sure I have your picture at the end of all this! (Otherwise, I'll be a dick and go through my archives looking for the worst possible one.)

Also, a big warm welcome to our three new costumers: Kaeleigh Rettie, Melissa Benson and Jaclyn Deacon!

I can already tell that this shoot is going to be a blast.

Good thing we're all such professionals. Ahem.
